Developing A Responsible Tariff and Trade Agenda

The Administration’s sweeping and volatile tariffs undermined the global trading system that had been in place for decades, disrupting supply chains, harming allies, and increasing prices for American businesses, workers, farmers, ranchers, and families.

Tariffs are regressive taxes that have hit lower income Americans the hardest, deepening domestic inequality and worsening the affordability crisis. In 2025, the Administration’s tariffs amounted to an average tax increase of $1,000 per U.S. household.
